Bleach follows the adventures of Ichigo Kurosaki after he accidentally obtains the power of a shinigami from Rukia Kuchiki. A shinigami is a Japanese death personification similar to the Grim Reaper. Gaining these abilities forces him to take on the duties of defending humans from evil spirits and guiding departed souls to the afterlife.

Bleach has been continuously serialized in the Japanese manga anthology Weekly Shōnen Jump since August 2001 and has been collected in 36 tankōbon volumes as of December 2008. Since its publication, Bleach has spawned a substantial media franchise. The manga has been adapted into an animated television series produced by Studio Pierrot which is still ongoing in Japan as it adapts the story from the manga. The series has also spawned two original video animations (OVAs), three animated feature films, seven rock musicals, and numerous video games, as well as prompted the release of many types of Bleach-related merchandise.

Viz Media licensed the manga for English-language publication in the United States and Canada and has released 24 volumes as of September 2008. In addition, it has been publishing the chapters in Shonen Jump since November 2007. On March 15, 2006, Viz obtained foreign television and home video distribution rights to the Bleach anime. Cartoon Network began airing Bleach as part of its Adult Swim block on September 9, 2006 in the United States. The first film, Bleach: Memories of Nobody was released in North America on Region 1 DVD by Viz on October 14, 2008.

Compilation volumes of the manga have sold over 50 million copies in Japan and reached the top of manga sales charts in the United States. The anime adaptation has been similarly received, rating as the 7th most popular anime television series in Japan in 2006, and in the top ten anime for America from 2006 to 2009. The series received the Shogakukan Manga Award for the shōnen demographic in 2005, and is among the best-selling manga properties in both Japan and America

Stories

The story opens with the sudden appearance of Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki in Ichigo Kurosaki’s bedroom. She is surprised at his ability to see her, but their conversation is interrupted by the appearance of a “hollow”, an evil spirit. After Rukia is severely wounded while trying to protect Ichigo, she attempts to transfer half her powers to Ichigo in order to let him face the hollow on equal footing. Ichigo instead unintentionally absorbs almost all her energy, allowing him to defeat the hollow with ease. The next day Rukia appears in Ichigo’s classroom as a seemingly normal human, and informs Ichigo that his absorption of her powers has left her stranded in the human world until she recovers her strength. In the meantime Ichigo shelters Rukia in his home and takes over her job as a Soul Reaper, battling hollows and guiding lost souls to Soul Society.

After a few months of this arrangement, in the sixth volume of the series, Rukia’s Soul Reaper superiors find out about her giving her powers away (which is illegal in Soul Society) and send a detachment to arrest her, and sentence her to death. Ichigo is unable to stop Rukia’s capture, but with the help of several of his classmates who also possess spiritual abilities and ex-Soul Reaper and captain Kisuke Urahara, he sets off for the Soul Reaper base, located in the afterlife realm known as Soul Society. Once there, Ichigo and company battle against the elites of the Soul Reaper military, and are ultimately successful in halting Rukia’s execution.
It is then revealed that Rukia’s execution and Ichigo’s rescue attempt were both manipulated by Sōsuke Aizen, a high ranking Soul Reaper previously believed to be murdered, as part of a far-reaching plot to take control of Soul Society. Aizen betrays his fellow Soul Reapers and allies himself with the hollows, becoming the main antagonist of the series, and Ichigo teams up with his former enemies in Soul Society after learning that the next step in Aizen’s plan involves the destruction of his hometown. At this point, Bleach chronicles the war between Aizen and the Soul Society, a plotline which has not yet been resolved. According to Tite Kubo, the ending of the series is not yet planned out or writtenaldhytzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09557711999141506777noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6935039261961732445.post-49540182408003528642009-01-15T04:00:00.007+07:002009-01-15T04:19:14.945+07:00Bleach Character ProfileIchigo Kuroski

Kurosaki Ichigo is the main character of Bleach, who received Shinigami (Death God) powers from a female Shinigami named Kuchiki Rukia. The power came at a cost, as by making Ichigo a Shinigami, Rukia’s powers were lost.

Ichigo lives with his father, Kurosaki Isshin, and two sisters, Yuzu and Karin. His mother Kurosaki Masaki was killed by a hollow while protecting young Ichigo from being attacked by a Hollow.

Ichigo was born with the ability to see and communicate with ghosts and spirits; as such he was able to see Rukia in her Shinigami form. Ichigo also possess an immense amount of reiatsu (spirit power), which he cannot control well. Due to that, his spirit power is constantly “leaking”, which affects the spiritually-aware people around him. Ichigo’s friends such as Inoue Orihime, Sado Yasutora (Chad) and Ishida Uryuu, are all positively affected by his strong spirit power.

Kurosaki Ichigo’s Zanpakuto

Kurosaki Ichigo’s Zanpakuto is named Zangetsu (Slicing Moon). In his Shikai (Initial release) form, Zangetsu is a giant cleaver with no handguard. He is as tall as Ichigo himself, and its blade is black in color and lined with a silver edge.

When not in use, Zangetsu is kept on Ichigo’s back with an unusual bandage-like sheath. When in battle, the bandage sheath shrinks and wrap itself as the sword’s grip. This bandage cloth can also be used offensively, as first demonstrated by Ichigo’s inner Hollow, where the bandage cloth is used to swing Zangetsu around and attack from far.

Zangetsu’s special attack is named Getsuga Tenshou, which fires a concentrated blast of reiatsu at the enemy from the tip of the blade. Ichigo first learnt this technique from Urahara Kisuke, and later mastered it after discovering its true name.

The Bankai (Final release) form of Zangetsu is considered unique among all Zanpakuto. Named Tensa Zangetsu (Chains of Heave - Slicing Moon), the sword is now an elegant black katana with a square handguard and a short broken chain dangling as the sword’s tassel. In the Bankai form, Ichigo is capable of incredible speed and agility, far superior to Shunpo (Flash step).
Related

Rukia Kuchiki

Kuchiki Rukia is a Shinigami (Death God) from the Soul Society. During a Hollow attack, she was forced to give up her Shinigami powers to Kurosaki Ichigo, which made it necessary for her to stay in a gigai (faux body) while she recuperates.

Back in Soul Society, Rukia was previously from a lower class. When she was young, she spent much of her time together with Abarai Renji and the rest of their childhood friends. But after she was admitted into the Shinigami Academy, she became adopted into the noble Kuchiki family by Kuchiki Byakuya, and her friendship with Renji became distant. Rukia was then placed under the command of Captain Jushiro Ukitake and Lieutenant Kaien Shiba of the 13th Division.

After spending some time under Kaien, she became close to him. She even had romantic feelings for him, but she tried to suppress them as she knew Kaien was happily married to Miyako, who’s coincidently someone she admired most. Therefore as Byakuya mentioned at one point, the reason why Rukia felt such a close bond to Ichigo was probably due to his strong resemblance to Kaien.

Rukia has a serious personality and is often seen nagging at Ichigo. She is also stubborn at times.

Kuchiki Rukia’s Powers

Although Rukia has a zanpakuto of her own, she has yet to show her usage of its Shikai form, since during her time in her gigai she do not have access to her zanpakuto. But her greatest strength lies in her strong talent in kidou (demon arts), which is possible to perform while in the special gigai that was given by Urahara Kisuke. During her training in the academy, we witnessed how she was more talented than Renji when it comes to kidou.

Inoue Orihime

Inoue Orihime is the classmate and friend of Kurosaki Ichigo, whom she has a crush on. She is a friendly and sweet girl who quickly developed spiritual powers of her own after Ichigo became a Shinigami.

Orihime’s best friend is Tatsuki Arisawa. She hangs out often with her and Tatsuki has made a promise to protect her. Although at one point of the series, Orihime managed to use her new-found powers to protect Tatsuki from a Hollow. Orihime is very sensitive and emotional. She would blame herself for not being stronger and be of more help to her friends. She is also very clueless at times. Orihime also has a somewhat large bust, which is occasionally made the subject of jokes.

Orihime used to stay with her brother, who brought Orihime and ran away from their drunkard father and cheating mother. After her brother died from a car accident, she began wearing the hairpins that her brother gave her everyday.

Inoue Orihime’s Powers

Orihime’s powers come from her hairpins. With them, she is able to summon six fairies called the Six Flowers of the Hibiscus Shield, and individually they are named Shun’ou, Ayame, Tsubaki, Hinagiku, Baigon, and Lily. Orihime’s powers are mostly defensive, except for her Koten Zanshun (Single Heavenly Cutting Shield) technique, which involves firing Tsubaki at her enemy with such power that he can split enemies into halves. Her most incredible power is the Soten Kisshun (Double Heavenly Reflecting Shield) technique, which Orihime would summon Ayame and Shun’ou, and they would form a shield around an injured person. The shield reverses time, thus returning the injured person to an earlier state, effectively healing all wounds. The last of Orihime technique is the Santen Kesshun (Triple Heavenly Binding Shield). In this technique, Hinagiku, Lily and Baigon are summoned to form a giant triangular shield which repels any attacks directed at Orihime.

Orihime first realized her powers when she had to protect her best friend Tatsuki from a Hollow attack. And so far, the Hollow has been the only thing that Orihime has ever killed.

Other than her fairies, Orihime knows karate as well. Thanks to Tatsuki, she is able to attain black belt level.

Sado Yasutora

Sado Yasutora, also known as Chad, is the classmate and friend of Kurosaki Ichigo. Chad is a huge and muscular teenager who was brought up in Mexico. He is also extremely tough, protecting Ichigo with his body from punches, recovering from a steel girder falling onto him, and colliding with a motorcycle and still able to carry the motorcyclist to the hospital. Although physically strong, Chad is actually a very quiet and gentle person.

Chad was born in Okinawa, Japan. But during his youth, his parents took him to Mexico. Unfortunately, they died there and Chad was left all alone, until he was adopted by a man named Oscar Joaquin de la Rosa. Chad calls him Abuelo (grandfather in Spanish).

During his youth, Chad was very violent due to his strength and size. Abuelo tried to teach him to be gentle, but was unsuccessful. Until one day, Chad was getting beat badly and Abuelo stepped in to protect him. Abuelo stood there, taking every punch and never fought back. Eventually the enemies left, and Chad vowed that from that day on he’ll never fight, unless it is to protect others.

Chad has a tattoo on his left shoulder that reads “Amore e Morte” (Love and Death). It is made up of a heart, a snake and a pair of angel wings around the heart. Chad is also known to be fairly good with his studies in school.

Sado Yasutora’s Powers

In the beginning, Chad had no powers. Neither can he see Hollows and spirits. But during the encounter where he saved Ichigo’s sister, Karin, from a Hollow, he began to see them. It was also during same encounter where he first realized his powers, which is in the form of an armor on his right arm. The armor is black in color, with white and red stripes and a Y-shaped design near the top.

With the armor on, Chad is capable of firing powerful blasts of energy. And after being trained by Shihouin Yoruichi, he learnt to fire multiple blasts a day and hardly gets tired.

Ishida Uryuu

Ishida Uryuu is the classmate and friend of Kurosaki Ichigo. Ishida has a quiet personality, and most of the time he shys away from the crowd, prefering to be alone. And sometimes, he tries hard to act cool.

Ishida is a talent when it comes to sewing. He is a member of the school’s fine arts club, and helps fellow members to fix up things like stuffed toys when they asked. At one point of the seires, Ichigo approached him to sew up Kon, which he ended up going the extra mile and adding fancy clothings for Kon.

Ishida also possess great intelligence, as he tops the school in terms of academic achievement. At one point of the series, Ishida also demonstrated his intelligence by solving a puzzle to a game of illusional maze.

In his youth, Ishida spent most of his time with his grandfather, Soken Ishida. It was his grandfather who trained him in the way of the Quincy. Ishida do not have a good relationship with his father, Ryuken. His father was also against the way of the Quincy, mentioning that he would rather care for his own wealth and income than to protect the people from the Hollows.

And later on during his youth, Ishida’s grandfather was killed by Hollows in front of his eyes, and he could do nothing to save him. And the Shinigami (Death Gods) who were responsible at that time for the protection against Hollows, were late to save his grandfather. This is part of the reason why Ishida came to hate the Shinigami.

History of Quincy

Ishida is known to be the last surviving Quincy. The Quincy are a group of spiritually aware humans who sworn to fight the Hollows, using spiritual bows as their means of fighting. But the Quincy are now near extinction due to the extermination by the Shinigami about 200 years before the main Bleach storyline.

The main difference between a Quincy and a Shinigami, is that Shinigami “cleanses” a Hollow’s spirit, sending them back to the Soul Society, whereas the Quincy deals a killing blow to the Hollow, destroying it forever. The Shinigami soon realized that the Quincy’s actions could soon lead to a disruption to the balance of the human and soul worlds. But the Quincy refused to heed their advices, which eventually led to a war started by the Shinigami to exterminate the Quincy.

This tragic past has caused Ishida to hate all Shinigami. Hence, when Ishida first met Ichigo, he had deep hatred for him.

Ishida Uryuu’s Powers

The Quincy’s bow is summoned by drawing spiritual energy from the environment and directed using willpower. In the beginning, Ishida’s bow was that of a normal Quincy’s, named the Koujaku (Yellow Sparrow). But at a later point of the series, he mastered the Sanrei Gloves left for him by his grandfather. This allowed him to create an impressive bow. And if the Quincy of this bow breaks the spike on the gloves, he will receive a surge of extremely powerful energy which even a Shinigami of Captain level could be defeated. But after a certain time limit, the Quincy is left powerless, and no longer able to use any Quincy powers.

After mastering the Sanrei Gloves, Ishida was able to use a technique named Hirenkyaku, which allows him to move at speeds comparable to that of a Shinigami’s Shunpo. Another rare technique, which is known to typically be usable only by high level Quincy, is the Ransotengai . By using this technique, Ishida was able to control his body as one would a puppet. Strands of spiritual energy strings his body together allowing him to fight effectively even when he is physically paralysed.aldhytzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09557711999141506777noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6935039261961732445.post-23021002233887182262009-01-15T03:37:00.002+07:002009-01-15T03:48:32.118+07:00About Air GearAbout Air Gear

Air Gear is a shōnen manga and anime by the mangaka Oh! great. Air Gear is about the life of Itsuki Minami "Ikki", also known as "Baby face" and "Lil (and Little) Crow", and his friends. The story follows their use of Air Trecks, an in-universe invention derived from inline skates. The early parts of the story carry out the introduction of characters that eventually join Ikki. As the story progresses, it focuses on their roles as Storm Riders and their quest to be on the top of the Trophaeum Tower. It won the 2006 Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category.

Story

Itsuki "Ikki" Minami, is a student and a delinquent. Also known as the "Unbeatable Babyface", Ikki is the leader of the youth gang by the name of "East Side Gunz" (Hikatsuganzu). Upon his return home, after being humiliated by a Storm Rider team called the Skull Saders, Ikki discovers a secret hidden from him by his benefactors, the Noyamano sisters. The sisters belong to a group of Storm Riders who go by the team name of Sleeping Forest. In the anime, learning the sisters' secret angers him and he steals a pair of Air Trecks, abbreviated as "AT". (In the manga, the sisters give a pair of ATs to him and invite him to skate with them.) Ikki eventually settles his grudge with the Skull Saders, but in the process he receives more than the simple satisfaction of revenge. Determined to experience the sensation of "flight" for as long as he can, Ikki is quickly engaged in the mysterious, irresistible world of Air Treks. Eventually, Ikki and his friends create their own team, Kogarasumaru and competes in battles against other AT teams. The individual chapters are being published in tankōbon volumes by Shueisha, with the first released on December 24, 1997 and 52 volumes released as of December 2008. One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a 17-year-old boy, who gained supernatural abilities by eating a magical fruit, and his ragtag crew of heroic pirates, named the Straw Hats. Luffy’s greatest ambition is to obtain the world’s ultimate treasure, One Piece, and thereby become the next Pirate King. When creating the series, Oda was heavily influenced by the manga Dragon Ball.

One Piece is licensed for an English language release in North America by Viz Media. The individual chapters are being serialized in Viz’s Shonen Jump manga anthology and being published in tankōbon volumes. In the United Kingdom, the series is being released by Gollancz Manga. Madman Entertainment is releasing the series in Australia and New Zealand.

The series was adapted into an original video animation (OVA) produced in 1998 by Production I.G. It was later adapted into a full anime series by Toei Animation that premiered in Japan on Fuji Television on October 20, 1999. As of December 15, 2008, 381 episodes of the series have aired. The anime series was licensed for a heavily edited English dubbed broadcast in North America by 4Kids Entertainment. It has since been licensed for a full Region 1 DVD release and broadcast by Funimation Entertainment. In addition to the anime series and OVA, One Piece has been adapted into nine feature films by Toei and multiple video games based on the series have been released.

With over 140 million copies sold, One Piece is the third highest selling manga in the history of Weekly Shōnen Jump. It is considered their most acclaimed and all-time third-best-selling title in Japan.

Stories

A boy named Monkey D. Luffy, inspired by his childhood hero “Red-Haired” Shanks, sets out on a journey to find the legendary One Piece, to become the new Pirate King. To accomplish this, he must reach the end of the most deadly and dangerous ocean: The Grand Line.

Luffy captains the Straw Hat Pirates first through the sea of East Blue and then through the Grand Line. He follows the path of the deceased Pirate King, Gold Roger, from island to island on his way to the great treasure One Piece. On his way his crew grows to have a swordsman, a navigator, a sniper, a cook, a doctor, an archaeologist, a shipwright, and a musician.

During the course of the story, the crew contend with both other less moral pirate crews and the Navy. The latter are the subordinates of the World Government, who apparently seek justice by ending the Golden Age of Pirates. Many background story elements involve the delicate balance of power between the World Government and the world’s most powerful pirate crews.

One Piece Characters

Monkey D. Luffy

Monkey D. Luffy, a 17-year-old boy, is the primary protagonist of the One Piece series and is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates. His dream is to become the Pirate King. He is portrayed as carefree and sometimes air-headed and has a huge appetite, especially for meat. As a child, by accidentally eating a Devil Fruit his body gained the properties of rubber. Luffy is voiced by Urara Takano in the original video animation (OVA) and by Mayumi Tanaka in the Japanese version of the anime. In the English dubs, he is voiced by Erica Schroeder for 4Kids,[5] by Chuck Powers for Odex[citation needed] and by Colleen Clinkenbeard for Funimation.
Roronoa Zoro

Roronoa Zoro is the first to join the crew. He is 19 years old and a skilled swordsman, who uses up to three swords at once, clutching the third in his mouth. He is extremely poor at understanding geographical directions and gets lost very easily. He also sleeps a great deal and loves to drink. His goal is to become the greatest swordsman in the world, by beating the current greatest swordsman, Mihawk, due to a promise he made to a childhood friend named Kuina. Zoro is voiced by Wataru Takagi in the OVA and by Kazuya Nakai in the Japanese version of the anime. In the English dubs, he is voiced by Marc Diraison for 4Kids, by Brian Zimmerman for Odex[citation needed] and by Christopher Sabat for Funimation. On his journey he made a living by bounty hunting, which lead to his nickname “Pirate Hunter”. One day he was imprisoned for a month, but Luffy, who had been attracted by Zoro’s fame among other things, saved him, but only after he agreed to join his pirate crew. Since then, Zoro is also extremely loyal to Luffy, even begging Bartholomew Kuma, one of the Seven Warlords, to exchange Luffy’s life for his. Zoro is a skilled swordsman, able to use one, two and three swords in varying attack styles, and even no swords, although he is most proficient with the fictional sword style Santōryū (literally: three sword style), clutching his third sword in his mouth. Zoro is somehow able to speak with his sword held in his mouth; Eiichiro Oda has stated that it is his heart that allows him to do so. Zoro has several sword techniques at his disposal, using one sword, two swords, or all three. He is also capable of fighting effectively with no swords, and his physical strength is enough to lift a building. Zoro also has the ability to cut through solid steel, or materials as hard as steel, which he learned when fighting Das Bones (Baroque Works Mr. 1) in Arabasta. He is also capable of using the ‘Asura’ technique, which gives Zoro three faces and six arms, thus totaling nine swords. In addition, Zoro can expand the muscle mass of his arms, an ability he often employs to break through opponent’s physical defenses.
Zoro is one of the most popular One Piece characters, ranking second in the most recent Japanese fan poll. Furthermore, in a 2007 poll by Oricon, Zoro was voted as the 4th most desired character to receive a spinoff. In a review of the series, DVD Talk claims that Zoro is a great example of the show’s humorous physics, and praises his Santōryū fighting style.

Nami

Nami is the crew’s 18-year-old navigator and the second to join. She has the ability to recognize and analyze even the slightest changes in the weather up to the point of sheer intuition. She is also an excellent pickpocket. Her dream is to draw a complete map of the world. Nami is voiced by Megumi Toyoguchi in the OVA and by Akemi Okamura in the Japanese version of the anime. In the English dubs, she is voiced by Kerry Williams for 4Kids, by Alison Lestor for Odex[citation needed] and by Luci Christian for Funimation.
She grew up as a misbehaved troublemaker on an island called Cocoyashi Island with her adopted older sister Nojiko, and her foster mother, Bellemere. Bellemere was a mikan farmer and a former Marine soldier. After a battle, Bellemere was at the edge of death until she heard a baby (Nami) carried by a wandering little girl (Nojiko). At that moment, Bellemere gained a new will to live, and decided to take them in as her own. One day, the Merman Pirates lead by Arlong invaded the island and claimed it as their territory. In order for the villagers to live, they had to pay for their lives. Every month, they would have to pay fifty thousand berri per child, while each adult would cost a hundred thousand berri. Bellemere, unable to pay for the whole family, paid only for her daughters and as a result, was killed in front of them. When Arlong found out about Nami’s exceptional skills in cartography, he offered her to join his crew. Nami decided to join Arlong’s crew after Arlong said that she could buy her village with 100 million berri. Nami spent eight years drawing maps for Arlong and stealing treasure from pirates in order to save the village. Eventually, she meets Luffy and Zoro and decides to join them, as she expects to get money out of it. After the Straw Hats meet Sanji, she steals the Going Merry and runs back to the village. They follow her to the village and remove Arlong from power by force. Nami then agrees to join the Straw Hat Pirates as their navigator.

Usopp

Usopp is the crew’s 17-year-old[2] marksman and the third to join. He is a chronic liar, talented inventor and has notable artistic talent, shown in his painting of the Straw Hat’s Jolly Roger and crafting of detailed snow sculptures. Usopp’s dream is to become a “brave warrior of the sea”. According to a recent Japanese fan poll in the Shonen Jump magazine, Usopp is the 6th most popular character. In a 2007 Oricon poll, Usopp was voted the 10th most wanted character to receive a spin off amongst all respondents, and the 5th most popular amongst males.[20] Usopp is voiced by Kappei Yamaguchi in the Japanese version of the anime. In the English dubs, he is voiced by Jason Anthony Griffith for 4Kids, by Jamie Meldrum and Chuck Powers for Odex and by Sonny Strait for Funimation.
Usopp is a talented inventor, creating the Clima Tact for Nami and the dial-upgraded Perfect Clima Tact. Prior to Franky joining, he is the crew’s acting carpenter and patches up the caravel Going Merry, Merry Go in the English manga and 4kids Dub) whenever it’s damaged. He also has notable artistic talent, shown in his painting the Straw Hat jolly roger and crafting of detailed snow sculptures. Usopp has outstanding marksmanship abilities with his slingshot and his remarkable accuracy often surprises his enemies. He utilizes extremely varied ammunition, including rotten eggs, hot sauce, pepper, shuriken and powerful explosives. Using his self-developed weapon, Kabuto, a slingshot connected to the end of a long staff, Usopp is even able to out range guns. Usopp’s father left to become a pirate when Usopp was still very young. Some time after this, Usopp’s mother died. After Luffy, Nami, and Zoro help him defeat Kuro’s pirates, who were intent on raiding his home village, Usopp is inspired by the three, and decides to go out to sea and to follow his dream of becoming a “brave warrior of the sea”. Throughout the story Usopp continues to act cowardly and remains one of the weaker fighting powers of the Straw Hats. This leads him to feeling inferior and after an argument over the fate of the Going Merry on Water 7 he leaves the Straw Hat crew. He dons a mask in order to anonymously help save Robin however and later, after many tears and an apology, rejoins the crew.

Sanji

“Sanji” redirects here. For the music video director, see Sanji (director). For the seiyū, see Sanji Hase.
Sanji is the crew’s 19-year-old[7] chain-smoking chef and the fourth to join. He knows how it feels to starve from first hand experience. Therefore he will never refuse someone a meal. He has a strong sense of chivalry, because of which, he will never harm a woman, even if he dies. Sanji also seems to keep this code regardless of a woman’s appearance. His dream is to find the All Blue, a legendary sea, containing every kind of fish in the world. Sanji is one of the most popular One Piece characters, as he ranked third in a recent Japanese fan poll. He is voiced by Hiroaki Hirata in the Japanese version of the anime. In the English dubs, he is voiced by David Moo for 4Kids, by Joe Murray and Paul Pistore for Odex[citation needed] and by Eric Vale for Funimation.
Sanji is also a very skilled fighter who uses only kicks. He said that this is because a chef’s hands are his prized possession and should not be risked in battle.[51] He was trained by the once infamous pirate and chef “Red Foot” Zeff, who had been to the Grand Line himself. His fighting style’s name is taken from the alias of “Red Foot” Zeff, Sanji’s mentor and developer of the style. Sanji’s most powerful ability is Diable Jambe, which involves rotating at high speeds, heating his leg via friction until it glows red-hot. This powerful ability enhances his kick and literally burns his opponent when it connects. The more Sanji uses his kick, the more his legs are damaged, but the legs would heal after time. Oda states this is because Sanji’s heart burns even hotter.[53] A unique attack to Sanji would be his beautification attack (Parage Shot!), which he demonstrated against chef Wanze. With several kicks to the face, Wanze’s face changed to resemble one would expect from the protagonist of a shojou manga. This skill is shown again many chapters later on Iron Mask Duval. As an expert chef, Sanji is capable of preparing almost any dish imaginable, while holding to a strong sense of the aesthetics of cooking. Sanji is also skilled in fighting with kitchen knives, as demonstrated against Cipher Pol chef Wanze.

Tony Tony Chopper

Tony Tony Chopper is the crew’s 15-year-old doctor and the fifth to join. He is a blue-nosed reindeer, who gained human properties by eating the Devil Fruit Human Human Fruit (ヒトヒトの実, Hito Hito no Mi). He is capable of conversing with humans and animals alike. He is very naïve and has a tendency to believe anything told to him. And he is incapable of hiding his feelings. His dream is to create a cure for all the world’s diseases. When creating Chopper, Oda stated that he wanted a mascot who is both cute and fearless.[55] An IGN review of the manga praised Chopper’s character as one of the best in the series, and said he was able to be both touching and funny. In the most recent Japanese Fan Poll, Chopper is the fourth most popular character. Chopper is voiced by Ikue Ōtani in the Japanese version of the anime. In the English dubs, he is voiced by Lisa Ortiz for 4Kids, by Emlyn Morinelli for Odex[citation needed] and by Brina Palencia for Funimation.
His Devil Fruit gives him the ability to almost instantly transform in certain ways. His first and original form is that of a blue nosed reindeer. His second form’s proportions are quite similar to that of a human child, but has antlers and hooves among other things. The third form gives him a werehuman-like appearance and height. It is the most human form he can assume, as it leaves him with only a reindeer-like face and bodyfur to distinguish him from real human beings. In addition to his normal transformations, Chopper developed a drug he calls Rumble Ball, which allows him four additional transformations to use over a three minutes period. These forms focus certain parts of his body to improve his physical abilities. If Chopper uses a second Rumble Ball within six hours, he can’t control his transformations; if Chopper uses a third Rumble Ball within six hours of the first, he transforms into monstrous version of himself and loses self-control. This form is called Monster Point and is extremely powerful, but also has the adverse effect of draining Chopper’s life force. When he awakens he does not remember anything done during the forms destruction.

Nico Robin

Nico Robin is the crew’s 28 year old archaeologist and the sixth to join. She is extremely intelligent, having taught herself archeology and the extremely difficult Poneglyph language at a very young age. Her dream is to find and decipher the Rio Poneglyph, an ancient stone telling a long lost part of history, which is considered a crime against the World Government. Robin values ancient artifacts and buildings, and she will risk her life to protect them. She has vast knowledge of the world of One Piece, and usually keeps her head during surprising situations, allowing her to logically analyze them without losing her cool. Robin is voiced by Yuriko Yamaguchi in the Japanese version of the anime. In the English dubs, she is voiced by Veronica Taylor for 4Kids, by Natasha Malinsky for Odex[citation needed] and by Stephanie Young for Funimation.
Robin has the abilities of the Flower Flower Fruit, allowing her to create copies of any of her body parts on any solid surface that she can see, such as her own body, on the bodies of others, on objects, or even the replicated limbs themselves.[64] In battle, she most often employs grappling techniques to incapacitate her foe; by replicating her limbs on their body, she eliminates the need for close range combat. The most often imployed techniques thus far are using her hands to hold the foes limbs together or in place, or in a more cruel attack, spawning multiple limbs from the opponents body and bending their spinal collumns till breakage. On Triller Bark island, she reveals that she is able to replicate her arms into a pattern resembling wings, which allow her to fly for up to five seconds. If Robin’s replicated body parts are damaged in some way, the damage appears on her actual body.
Robin was raised on the island Ohara with her Uncle’s family after her mother, Nico Olvia, leaves the island to study the lost history of the world. Her abilities cause most of the other residents of the island to call her a demon, though she is welcomed by her mother’s colleagues. She eventually meets Jaguar D. Saul, a giant vice admiral who defects from the marines becoming her first real friend. Soon after, her mother returns with the marines close behind her, and the island and its inhabitants are bombarded and slaughtered. Aokiji, a close friend of Saul, kills Saul for his defecting, and decides to spare Robin and monitor her closely, though she has a high bounty placed on her head because of her knowledge. She eventually works with various pirates in order to survive, including joining with Sir Crocodile as “Miss All Sunday” until he is defeated by Straw Hat Luffy. She then decides that since Luffy saved her life and she has nowhere else to go she joins the crew. After many adventures with the crew, Robin grows a strong feeling for them especially after the events of Enies Lobby.

Franky

Franky, originally known as Cutty Flam, is the crew shipwright and seventh to join. He is cola-powered cyborg, who wishes to build a ship capable of sailing around the world. He is a skilled carpenter, capable of building an entire bridge in a matter of moments. Together with the Galleyla shipwrights, he builds the Thousand Sunny, a brigantine-rigged sloop-of-war, to repay the Straw Hats and take on the “spirit” of the destroyed Going Merry. The ship is built from an extremely strong wood from the “Treasure Tree Adam”, the same material of Gold Roger’s Ship, bought using money stolen from the Straw Hats. Franky is voiced by Kazuki Yao in the Japanese version of the anime and by Patrick Seitz in Funimation’s English dub.
He is the son of a pirate from the South Blue, who abandons him at the age of ten. He is taken in on Water 7 by the master shipwright, Tom, who built Gold Roger’s ship. Along with his other apprentice, Iceburg, they construct a sea train and various other small warships. Tom hold the blueprints to the ancient superweapon, Pluton, which leads the World Government to charge him for building Roger’s ship, and frame Cutty by using his ships to attack the city. Tom takes the blame for Cutty, and he is sentenced to be taken away to the Marine prison, Impel Down. Cutty attempts to stop the train, though it ends up hitting him. He reinforces his nearly dead body with mechanical parts to become a cyborg, and returns to Water 7 as Franky. He rounds up the lowlifes of the city to form the Franky Family, a group of ship dismantlers and delinquents. He ends up helping to fight CP9 after antagonizing the Straw Hats, and reluctantly joins the crew through the encouragement of the Franky Family.
Franky’s artificial body grants him incredible strength, as well as making him practically invulnerable to most frontal attacks. He is unable to modify his back, leaving it vulnerable to attacks. His fighting style focuses on projectile attacks, including an extendable right bionic arm, cannons in his left arm, and nails and fire that can be launched from his mouth. His chest contains a compartment to hold up to three bottles of cola, which fuels him and his attacks. Franky’s hair style and attitude are affected by the type of drink he uses for fuel. He can use up much of his cola to launch powerful bursts of wind from both his arms, with “Coup de Vent” taking one whole bottle.

Brook

Brook is the crew’s musician and eighth to join. He is a living skeleton, resurrected by means of the Revive Revie Fruit. He has a strange personality, being a combination of a gentlemanly persona and a perverted, crude sort. He speaks in a dignified, educated manner at most times, while having amazingly bad manners, often burping at dinner. He takes being a skeleton lightly, using any chance he can to joke about it. The idea of a skeleton musician was first conceived during 2000. Brook is voiced by Chō in the Japanese version of the anime.
Brook is initially a fighter in the surprise-attack squadron of an unknown kingdom before joining the Rumbar Pirates, which is made up entirely of musicians. The group befriends Laboon, a whale who becomes enamored with their music and Brook’s afro. They promise to return to Laboon before departing to sail the Grand Line, though the crew is slaughtered upon entering the Florian Triangle. Before succumbing to poison, they play and record one last song, and entrust the task of playing it for Laboon to Brook once his fruit revives him. Brook’s spirit takes a long time to find his body due to the vast area and constant fog, leading to it decay down to his skeleton. He spends a long time alone on the ship, which cannot sail, before being captured by Gecko Moria, who steals Brook’s shadow, and forces him to stay within the triangle to avoid the sun. He pledges himself to the Straw Hats after they help him retrieve his shadow. His goal becomes to return to Laboon after circling the Grand Line.
Brook carries a shikomizue, a Japanese cane sword, and is skilled in a fencing style that utilizes quick jabs. Brook is also an excellent musician, displaying the ability to play any instrument at a highly skilled level. Despite being a skeleton, he still processes food and becomes tired, though milk can recover him and heal any bone fractures. His hair has extremely strong roots, leading to his full afro still existing. He believes that the afro is necessary for Laboon to remember him, so he does anything that he can to protect it in battle, which can decrease his fighting capabilities. Brook’s lightweight skeleton body gives him great speed, the ability to jump extraordinarily high, and the ability to run across water. Brook can combine his shikomizue and violin to create sound-based attacks capable of confusing the enemy and forcing them to sleep.aldhytzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09557711999141506777noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6935039261961732445.post-56213350120597126752009-01-13T04:58:00.001+07:002009-01-15T03:48:05.935+07:00About NarutoAbout Naruto

Naruto is an ongoing Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. The plot tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, adolescent ninja, who constantly searches for recognition and aspires to become a Hokage, the ninja in his village that is acknowledged as the leader and the strongest of all. The series is based on a one-shot comic by Kishimoto that was first published in the August 1997 issue of Akamaru Jump.

The manga was first published by Shueisha in 1999 in the 43rd issue of Japan’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine Currently, the manga is still being serialized with forty-four volumes having been released. The manga would be later adapted into an anime produced by Studio Pierrot and Aniplex. It premiered across Japan on the terrestrial TV Tokyo network and the anime satellite television network Animax on October 3, 2002. The first series lasted nine seasons, while Naruto: Shippuden, a sequel of the series, aired its first episode on February 15, 2007 and is still airing. Apart from anime series, Studio Pierrot has developed five movies for the series and several original video animations (OVAs). Other pieces of merchanidise include light novels, video games and trading cards developed by several companies.

Viz Media has licensed the manga and anime for North American production. Viz has been publishing the series in their Shonen Jump magazine, and has also been releasing the volumes. The series aired in the United States and Canada in 2005, and later in the United Kingdom and Australia in 2006 and 2007 respectively. The films, as well as most OVAs from the series have also been released by Viz, with the first film premiering on cinemas. Naruto: Shippuden has also been announced to premier in 2009 in the United States.

Serialized in Viz’s Shonen Jump magazine, Naruto has become one of the company’s best-selling manga series. As of volume 36, the manga has sold over 71 million copies in Japan. The English adaptation of the series have also appeared in the USA Today Booklist several times and volume 11 won the Quil Award in 2006. Reviewers from the series have praised the balance between fights and comedy scenes, as well as the characters’ personalities. However, some of them have noted the series to have stereotypical shōnen concepts, which appear in several series.

Stories

Naruto Uzumaki is a young boy who has the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox sealed within him. Twelve years before the start of the series, the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox attacked the ninja village Konohagakure, slaughtering many people. In response, the leader of Konohagakure – the Fourth Hokage – sacrificed his life to seal the demon inside Naruto when he was a newborn. Konohagakure, however, regarded Naruto as if he were the demon fox itself and mistreated him throughout most of his childhood. A decree made by the Third Hokage forbade anyone mention the attack of the demon fox to anyone although Naruto soon realized about this. Years later, Naruto graduated from the Ninja Academy by using his Shadow Clone Technique, a technique from a forbidden scroll that he was tricked into stealing, to save his teacher, Iruka Umino, from the renegade ninja Mizuki. That encounter gave Naruto two insights: that he was the container of the demon fox.

The main story follows Naruto and his friends’ personal growth and development as ninja, and emphasizes their interactions with each other and the influence of their backgrounds on their personalities. Naruto finds two friends and comrades in Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, two fellow young ninja who are assigned with him to form a three-person team under an experienced sensei named Kakashi Hatake. Naruto also befriends in other characters that he meets throughout the series. They learn new abilities, get to know each other and other villagers better, and experience a coming-of-age journey as Naruto dreams of becoming the Hokage of Konohagakure. At first, emphasis is placed on Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, who are the members of Team 7. Later, Orochimaru, a criminal at the top of Konohagakure’s most wanted list, attacks Konoha killing the Third Hokage as an act of revenge. This causes one of the three legendary ninja, Jiraiya to search for his partner Tsunade, to become the Fifth Hokage. During that search, it is revealed that Orochimaru also desires to acquire Sasuke Uchiha due to his powerful genetic heritage. Believing Orochimaru will be able to give him the strength needed to kill his brother Itachi, who destroyed all his clan, Sasuke goes to him. Naruto does not give up on Sasuke, leaving Konoha for two-and-a-half years of training to prepare himself for the next time he meets Sasuke.

After the training period, a mysterious organization called Akatsuki attempts to capture the nine powerful tailed beasts including the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox sealed inside of Naruto. Several ninjas from Konohagakure, including Team 7, fight against the Akatsuki members search for their teammate Sasuke. Sasuke, however, betrays Orochimaru and faces Itachi to take revenge. Although Itachi dies, Sasuke is told by the Akatsuki member Madara Uchiha that Itachi was ordered by Konohagakure’s leadership to destroy his clan. Saddened with the revelation, Sasuke joins forces with Akatsuki to destroy Konohagakure. Meanwhile, as several Akatsuki members are defeated by the Konohagakure ninja, the leader, Pain, prepares to invade the village to kidnap Naruto.

Naruto Characters

Naruto Uzumaki

Naruto Uzumaki is the primary protagonist of the Naruto series. He was the first character created by Kishimoto during the conception of the series, and was designed with many traits from other shōnen characters, including Son Goku of the Dragon Ball series. In the series, Naruto has ambitions of becoming Hokage, the leader of Konohagakure. Because he is the host of the nine-tailed demon fox, a malevolent creature that attacked Konohagakure, he is ostracized by the other villagers. He compensates for this with his cheerful and boisterous personality, and over the course of the series, manages to be-friend many foreign and Konohagakure ninja. He develops an especially close relationship with Sasuke Uchiha, one of his fellow ninja in Team 7, and treats him as his brother. Naruto’s seiyū in the original Japanese anime is Junko Takeuchi, and he is voiced by Maile Flanagan in the English adaptation.

Sasuke Uchiha

Sasuke Uchiha is one of the members of Team 7. He was created to be a rival to Naruto, as well as a “cool genius”, which Kishimoto believed was an integral part of an ideal rivalry. He is one of the few remaining members of the Uchiha clan along with his brother, Itachi Uchiha, who killed the rest of their family. Due to this, Sasuke’s sole desire is to kill his brother, and he develops a cold and withdrawn personality. His interactions with his fellow teammates, especially Naruto Uzumaki, make him focus less on revenge at the start of the series. During an encounter with his brother in Part I, Sasuke is easily beaten, which leads him to leave the village to seek more power from the criminal Orochimaru. His teammates’ attempts to recover him from Orochimaru form a major component of the Part II plot. In the Japanese anime, Sasuke’s seiyū is Noriaki Sugiyama, and his English voice actor is Yuri Lowenthal.

Sakura Haruno

Sakura Haruno is the sole female member of Team 7. Kishimoto created her as the heroine of the series, although he has admitted that he has little perception of what an ideal heroine should be. As a child, Sakura was taunted by other children, particularly because of her large forehead, a feature Kishimoto has tried to emphasize in Sakura’s appearances. She was comforted by Ino Yamanaka. As the two continued to grow, however, they became increasingly distant due to their shared affection for Sasuke Uchiha. During most of Part I, Sakura is infatuated with Sasuke, and spurns the advances of Naruto Uzumaki. After Sasuke leaves the village, she resolves to become stronger by training with Tsunade. In Part II, she displays highly developed skills from her training, and a more open disposition towards Naruto.[23][24] In the Japanese anime, her seiyū is Chie Nakamura, and she is voiced by Kate Higgins in the English adaptation.

Kakashi Hatake

Kakashi Hatake is the leader of Team 7 and the sensei of Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. Kishimoto had originally intended for Kakashi to be introduced earlier in the series than he actually was, and created him as an easygoing person that would be able to keep the members of Team 7 in check. Kakashi treats his leadership position with a detached manner, and is consistently late to meetings as a result. In a gaiden on Kakashi’s past, this is shown to be the result of an incident in which he witnessed the death of one of his teammates, Obito Uchiha, who gave Kakashi his Sharingan eye and imparted many of his habits, including his tardiness. With Obito’s Sharingan, Kakashi has amassed a reputation as a skilled and powerful ninja, earning the moniker “Copy Ninja Kakashi”. Although he mentors all three members of Team 7 early in the series, he particularly concentrates on training Sasuke as the series continues, teaching him his Chidori technique; however, he is unable to prevent Sasuke from leaving the village to seek Orochimaru for greater power. Kakashi’s seiyū in the Japanese anime is Kazuhiko Inoue, and his English voice actor is Dave Wittenberg.aldhytzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09557711999141506777noreply@blogger.com0
